What languages can you speak?
I can speak Spanish and English fluently. My first language is a native indigenous Mexican language called Otomí and I can still understand it, but since I don’t speak it frequently, I tend to have a hard time communicating with it. I am currently in my second year of studying French so I can speak it but only conversationally.
What extracurricular activities are you involved with on campus?
On campus, I am the community outreach for Alianza Latina, part of the Cultural Competency Committee, Just Like Home’s Vice President, President of the Mexican Society Club and Senior Board member of iClub. I have also been part of the Cross Country team during the last two years.
What are your favorite thing(s) on campus?
Apart from the really good food that Commons provides, I really like the class dynamic surrounding discussion. It’s truly eye-opening to hear perspectives that one doesn’t get right away from a reading, a topic, or an event, come from one’s surrounding peers.
How does Andover compare to your home?
Frankly, it doesn’t compare. Both are extremely precious places in my life; Andover is my academic haven while my home provides the cultural aspect that is missing. They balance each other out.
