What languages can you speak?
I speak English and I know a little bit of Tagalog. I am currently learning Spanish in school.
What extracurricular activities are you involved with on campus?
Science Club for Girls, Bread and Roses, Asian Society, Asian Women Empowerment
What are your favorite thing(s) on campus?
My favorite thing is the environment in the dorm. I live in Morton House and it was honestly the best experience since I’ve been here. The house counselors are amazing and they support me no matter what. It’s a small dorm with only 7 girls but that’s what makes it so nice. The girls and I are like family and I know that I can rely on them for anything. Morton House became my second home and I’m excited to live there again for my lower year!
How does Andover compare to your home?
I live in New Jersey which is only a four-hour drive away so it’s not too different. At home, I would always have home-cooked Filipino food which I don’t have here at Andover. I was also shocked to see how beautiful the campus was when I first arrived. There are so many wonderful and colorful trees, flowers, and birds!
Briefly talk about an interesting experience you had while visiting another part of the world (if applicable).
When I was eight, my family took me and my little sister to the Philippines. I felt really happy when I saw cousins and aunts and uncles that I never knew I had. It was so different from America and I really got to see different parts of my culture. The busy traffic, street vendors, beautiful beaches, and delicious food were all things that I had to take in and keep in my mind for forever. My parents each got to show me the neighborhoods they grew up on and told me all these fun stories about their childhood. It was such an enjoyable trip that I only wish I can visit there again.
